PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The Ph.D. Program offered by the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Bahçeşehir University aims to produce graduates and scholars who possess intellectual depth, who have incorporated technical knowledge with the philosophy of science; who recognize their profession on a global scale; who readily grasp recent advances in their field(s); and, who can expand current knowledge by making original contributions.

To this end, students admitted to the Ph.D. Program will have the opportunity to shape their curriculum based on their needs and areas of interest, in accordance with the following specialization areas:

  1. • Signal Processing
  2. • Communications
  3. • Control, Automation and Robotics
  4. • Electromagnetics/Optics and Ultrasound
  5. • Electrical Energy Systems
Who Can Apply?

Students holding B.S. or M.S. degrees in Engineering or related fields will be admitted to the Ph.D. Program, either directly or after taking some preparatory courses (to be decided by the Admissions Committee).

Minimum Admission Criteria are for each Applicant

a)     A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 2.75 (out of 4.00) is accepted for whom apply with graduate diploma.

b)     Evidence of quantitative skills — a minimum score of 70 from ALES (Quantitative) or 685 from the GRE (Quantitative).

c)     Evidence of English Language Proficiency — a minimum score of 65 from ÜDS, 65 from KPDS, 79/213/550 from IBT/CBT/PBT or TOEFL or 6.5 from IELTS.

•  Up-to-date curriculum vitae (CVs) or resumes

•  Official transcripts from all higher education institutions attended

•  Copies of official standardized test scores from one of the following: ALES, GMAT or GRE (if available)

• Copies of valid English Language Proficiency test scores from one of the following: KPDS, ÜDS, TOEFL or IELTS (if available)

Each applicant who meets the minimum admission criteria will be invited to an oral interview. Applicants who are successful in the interview will be granted a place in the Ph.D. Program. If, for any reason, the applicant cannot attend the interview on the specified date/time, he/she can inform the Graduate School about his/her absence and send a letter (to the address above), identifying the applicant’s proposed research topic and its possible outcomes, potential supervisor(s) and expected professional directions.

For final admission, all applicants who are successful in the interview must submit, or arrange for the submission of, the documents required by the Graduate School, in addition to the above listed information. Applicants who fail to submit copies of official standardized test scores or valid English Language Proficiency test scores will be admitted to the Ph.D. Program as special students, until copies of the aforementioned test scores are submitted to the Graduate School.
